Mega Messiah |

At the Mega Messiah about 15 of the Choral Society attended to join with around 1,000 other voices. The event was held at the Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 5 November 2011 and was to raise money for two charities - we rehearsed all afternoon, and then did a full performance in the evening. The orchestra and soloists were from the Welsh School of Music and Drama, the MD was David Lawrence. Everyone involved had a wonderful time. |

Anne's Big Bike Ride | ||

We mentioned in the last newsletter that Anne Richards (alto) had done an amazing bike ride during the 2011 summer holidays. We promised a pic and more details - she told us: A year ago a running friend asked me if I'd be interested in cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats as she wanted a challenge to celebrate her 50th Birthday so a year on & much planning later we set off on 24th July from Lands End. By now there were 3 of us with me being the oldie. We had booked B&Bs, youth hostels & travel lodges for each night with detailed maps for each day . Distances varied from 50-80 miles and we'd all put in months of training including spinning classes. Wedding of Katie Alexander |

Katie Alexander has been a member for nearly 4 years and when she was planning her wedding this year decided she wanted her friends from the choral society to sing at her wedding to Matt Young. The Wedding Choir met a few times in August to practice and Katie chose the music she wanted to be sung during the signing of the register. The marriage took place on a bright and sunny day on Monday 29th August, 2011 at St Mary's Walton, Clevedon at 12 noon. The choir sang John Rutter A Gaelic blessing followed by some light hearted wedding sings by Gilbert & Suillivan including a roof raising 'Bride Groom & Bride' as the happy married couple emerged smiling from the vestry.
