How to join

We always welcome new members whether you are an experienced choral singer or just like to sing. We hold weekly rehearsals led by our Musical Director and accompanied on the piano, where we will learn the pieces that form the repertoire for the two end of term concerts, Christmas and Spring. We have two terms; September to December and January to April/May.

Some ability to read music is beneficial, although we do have some members that manage without. Members are expected to practise between rehearsals, and teachtracks and recordings of the music can usually be found online (we don’t provide them). Our Musical Director also teaches singing technique and vocal exercises during rehearsal warm-ups to improve the overall sound of the choir.

We are a mixed choir with voice parts, Soprano (1st and 2nd), Alto (1st and 2nd), Tenor ( 1st and 2nd) and Bass (1st and 2nd). Don’t worry if you aren’t sure what your vocal range is, it becomes quite apparent in rehearsals, or you can speak to our Musical Director. We have both male and female tenors. The music we sing is classical, traditional choral or contemporary choral, accompanied or unaccompanied. We also get to perform with professional soloists and musicians in our concerts.

Members pay a fee of around £75 per term, which covers the costs of venue hire, music hire or printing, and paying for the Musical Director and Accompanist.
